What an amazing start to this year! Racing Hearts continues to make great strides in our mission of helping to save lives.
This past quarter, Racing Hearts was the featured story in the Palo Alto Weekly, was the Nickels for Nonprofit at our local Whole Foods, received a program grant to place AEDs at our middle and high schools, AND successfully advocated with the city of Palo Alto to fund life saving heart defibrillators (AEDs) throughout the entire city! This was a huge success!!! We are thrilled to see how education and advocacy about Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is changing how our community thinks about the standard of care for all! Check out our cover picture (see below)!
Because of your help and support. Racing Hearts has completed the following since the end of December 2012:
Helped to increase the safety of over 7,500+ athletes and their families by lending AEDs to athletic events at the Double Road Race, the Juana Run, and the Race to the Row. We continue to bring awareness and education about SCA and the need for AEDs in our communities.
Helped share personal stories on our website and Facebook page - we were thrilled to share survivor stories like Samantha C., who experienced her first of three SCA while at a community festival and Matt N. who went into SCA during a football game. These young adults are alive today because their communities supported life saving heart defibrillators (AEDs) on site.
We continue to receive amazing support from community members such as Carl Guardino, CEO of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group; Bob Anderson, Race Director of the Double Road Race and Founder of Runners World Magazine, and Liz Kniss, Former Santa Clara County Supervisor and current city council member of Palo Alot
